NRNA Thailand 2nd Phase Relief Progress Report

NRNA Thailand has provided 2nd phase of COVID-19 relief packages and rental fee to 130 stuck and stranded Nepali students including human trafficking/agents victims and tourists in Thailand. NRNA Thailand Task force revisited the group of the students to monitor the situation after the 1st phase of relief distribution, then decided to distribute relief packages to the people who were in desperate need of support based on the assessment report.
The relief package directly benefits students and people stranded in the different locations in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. The beneficiaries were of 3 categories, first group is intern students, Second human trafficking victims and 3rd Nepali tourists. The Task Force also requested NRNA Thailand Women Coordinator Megha Chand to outreach with distressed girl students and provide counselling as needed.
After reporting the 1st phase relief activities by the COVID-19 Response Task Force to the NRNA Thailand NCC meeting held on 3rd May, the task force had started the 2nd phase relief activities as guided by the meeting.  Following the NCC meeting, the task force had prepared following action plans for the 2nd phase relief plan:
1. Continue reviewing assessment forms from the help requesting people
2. Situation analysis visiting the sites of needy populations
3. Follow up with 1st phase relief beneficiary’s population
4. Continue reaching out female students for counselling
5. Cost estimation for the identified needy people
6. Advise treasurer to speed up the cash donation and collection of kind goods
7. Distribute the relief as needed for the second phase
The NRNA Thailand Relief Package consisted of all required food items, daily use materials enough for two meals to cover a minimum 15 days for each individual.
